Roasted Smoked Turkey
Ingredients
- turkey, whole smoked 1, 12-15 lbs
- onion 1
- garlic 1 head
- bacon 4-6 strips
- olive oil 2 tbsp
Intro
Delicious alternative to traditional turkey; always juicy. I make this twice a year.
Directions
- Rinse the turkey and preheat the oven to 330.
- Find a large roasting pan and a raised grate. Splash some water into the pan to catch the drippings, and place the turkey on top of the grate. Massage olive oil atop the turkey.
- Stuff the cavity with an onion, and the garlic, and drape the top of the bird with bacon.
- Cover with foil, and bake covered for 2 hours. Then begin basting every 30 minutes until complete, approx 18-20 minutes per lb of bird total.
- Let cool for 20-30 minutes while making the gravy.
