Mac n Cheese
Ingredients
- pasta, macaroni 1 lb
- all-purpose flour 4 tbsp
- butter 4 tbsp
- milk 1-2 cups
- cheese, mozzarella 12 oz
- parmesan 8 oz
Intro
Easier than you think. Mozzarella is certainly one option, but feel free to mix it up with different cheeses, and different quantities. Measurements here are a heuristic.
Directions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Dump the macaroni in, and cook them until al dente.
- In the meantime, prepare the Mornay sauce. Make a roux from the flour and butter. As it starts to darken to blonde, add milk in parts, and stir. As the sauce thickens, add more milk. The final product should resemble the consistency of heavy cream.
- Now, add in all the cheese, except the parmesan. Stir it in well to make your sauce.
- Once the macaroni is ready, pour around half a cup of the starchy water into the sauce, and drain the noodles. Mix them together with the sauce, and spread evenly in a 9x13 pan.
- Sprinkle the top with the parmesan. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes.
- Let cool, and serve.
