Using the site
How to use Actual Recipe
You can browse without an account. Start with a dish, an ingredient you have, or a half-remembered idea—the site is designed to help you get to the useful part quickly.
Find a recipe
Use the search box in the header from any page. It searches recipe names, descriptions, ingredients, and articles—not only exact titles.
Example
Search for lamb garlic
to find recipes connected to both ideas, even when neither word is the complete recipe title.
The dedicated Recipes page also has its own search box. It tolerates small spelling mistakes, so an imperfect search can still get you where you are going.
Browse by ingredient
If you know what you have but not what to cook, open the Ingredients page. Type an ingredient name and select it from the list to see recipes that use it.
You can select more than one ingredient. Each selection narrows the results to recipes that use all of the selected ingredients.
Example
Select garlic
and onion
to show only recipes containing both. Add another ingredient to narrow the list further.
Your choices appear under Selected ingredients. Select an ingredient there to remove it, or use Clear all to start over.
Ingredient names inside recipes are links too. Follow one to move through the collection and discover other ways to use it.
Read a recipe
Each recipe puts the working information first:
- Ingredients lists what you need and the suggested amounts.
- Directions gives the cooking steps in order.
- Notes adds context, substitutions, or lessons learned.
Amounts and cooking times are practical starting points. Use your judgment when equipment, ingredient size, or kitchen conditions differ.
Save favorites
Select Favorite recipe near the top of a recipe page. If you are not signed in, the site will take you to the sign-in page first.
Your saved recipes appear under Account → Favorites and remain available when you sign in on another device.
Create an account if you do not already have one.
Create private recipes
Approved author accounts can add recipes for their own use. Private recipes are visible only to the person who created them.
If your account has author access, choose Account → My recipes. From there you can create a recipe, search your private collection, or open a recipe to edit or delete it.
A useful way to start
Add a short title, list each ingredient and amount separately, then write one clear action per direction. You can always return and refine the recipe after cooking it again.
